NEW! HOME SCHOOL CLASS and FEBRUARY BREAK CAMP

HOMESCHOOLERS: 10 Classes, Wednesdays 10 am to 11:30 am, January 25 to April 12. (No classes Feb. 22 or March 15) Tuition: $250

FEBRUARY BREAK CAMP: February 20-24. 10 am to 2 pm. Tuition: $400 for the week.

WINTER CLASSES:  One Session per Week for 12 weeks. Fridays, January 20 to April 28.  4:30 to 6:00 pm. There is also an Apprentice Program in technical theatre for older kids. Tuition: $600

The WCT Juniors Program is a unique, low pressure theatre class for ages 6 and above. We focus on theatre games, improv and scene work, with a performance for the parents at the conclusion of the term. Students learn confidence, public speaking, and performance skills without realizing they are learning. We are conveniently located in the lower level of the Westport Town Hall in a full-time theatre.

Cindy Hartog

The program is headed up by Westport resident Cindy Hartog. Professionally trained as an actress at New York’s Neighborhood Playhouse, the Williamstown Theatre Festival, and London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. Cindy received her Master’s Degree in Educational Theatre from NYU and specializes in utilizing drama to increase social skills, learning, and FUN!

Heather DeLude is a former Chicago and Los Angeles based actress who trained and performed with The Second City Conservatory, ImprovOlympic, ComedySportz, The Bovine Metropolis (Denver), and The Annoyance Theater working with master teachers such as Del Close, Paul Sills, Martin de Maat, Mick Napier, and Gary Austin. Additionally, she studied in workshop settings with members of Saturday Night Live, Mad TV, The Groundlings, Loose Moose Theater Company, The Colbert Report, Upright Citizens Brigade, and more. Heather is also a certified teacher of English and Drama serving as Theater Arts director at Weston High School, Waterbury Arts Magnet School, and currently Wilton High School. Recent directing credits include Lend Me a Tenor, Noises Off, You Can’t Take it with You, All in the Timing, Our Town, The Laramie Project, Bang Bang You’re Dead, and various comedic improvisational troupes.

Mat Young is the Artistic Director of The Naked Shakespeare Company (ShakesBare). A graduate of The New Actor’s Workshop, there he studied under  George Morrison the schools founder and former theatre department head at Suny Purchase, and film and theater director Mike Nichols. In addition he studied Volia Spolin’s Improvisation for the Theatre with her son Paul Sills, co-founder of The Second City comedy troupe, and creator and original director of the Broadway show Storytheater. Mat has founded three different comedy improvisation troupes; Rhode Island’s Who is Winston Churchill?!, Manhattan’s Hypothetical Playground and Connecticut’s Space Pockets. As a director Mat has directed Hamlet (Bijou Theatre) Arcadia (Westport Community Theatre) Dancing at Lughnasa (Wilton Playshop). Before that he’s directed Taming of the Shrew (LawnChair Theatre/WHS), Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (Wilton Playshop), Mary Potter and the Race to Nowhere (Brewster/Wilton High School), Twelfth Night (Naked Shakespeare Company), Hamlet (Wilton Little Theatre), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (WSSP, Brewster PAC), The True Twilight Diaries (WHS), Musical the Musical (WHS), Romeo and Juliet (WSSP), The Complete Works of Shakespeare Abridged (Naked Shakespeare Company, WCT), Into the Woods (WHS), Picasso at the Lapin Agile (Brewster PAC), Suddenly there Came a Tapping (WHS), Guys and Dolls (WHS), The Mystery of Edwin Drood (WSSP, WHS), Zombie Apocalypse (WHS), Much Ado About Nothing (Wilton Little Theatre), West Side Story (WHS), Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me (Eastbound). Mat is the host of The Process Podcast a silly Shakespeare slanted podcast found on iTUNES. Mat also holds a BA in Theatre from Roger Williams University.
